Formulation

Our formulations make us exceptionally unique and we take great pride in being differentiated and premium.  We formulate with the following guiding principles:

• Source the most premium, bioavailable ingredients, many of which have clinical studies to support efficacy 
• Nature is smarter than us; we will never be a better ‘biochemist’ than mother nature thus we look to food as our guide for dosing and co-factors
• We evolved alongside food consequently we dose according to nutrient and phytochemical levels found more in alignment with nature and what we would get in an ‘ideal’ diet
• Provide a Food Matrix - a food matrix offers checks and balances and co-factors to signal the body to assimilate
• Conservative food-level dose for ingredients; and formulate with ingredients and amounts for preventative health to be used long term to increase healthspan (chronic); this is in stark contrast to many supplements that are formulated stronger to treat illness or disease over a shorter period (acute)
• Focus on full-spectrum extracts, concentrates and fermented ingredients

Quality and Sourcing

We use a quadruple gated process for ensuring safety, purity and efficacy:

1. Our manufacturer's Quality Control professionals review all supplier Certificates of Analysis (COAs) for each individual ingredient.  Note that the ingredients cannot be used if they do not comply with relevant standards and specifications for Physical Parameters, Assay of Active Compounds, Micro-biological Control, Chemical Impurities, of which are all identified on the ingredient Certificate of Analysis, and also must indicate the test methodology, standard reference and the equipment/test performed.  These COAs must all be signed by authorized individuals to authentic them.
2. Manufacturer completes a COA for the finished product in a certified lab for testing under ISO/IEC 17025:2017 to pass microbial and heavy metal testing.
3. Manufacturer completes an additional COA for label claim compliance to ensure what the label says is in the product is actually contained in the product.
4. Lastly, but most importantly, we (Primitive Scientific) commission our own third party tests for heavy metals, pesticides, and mycotoxins.  PhytoVest Certification then reviews the third party test data and the product formulas for quality, safety, dosing, forms and efficacy; both required for Certification.  

Our electolytes and multivatimins are PhytoVest Certified.  Our herring roe oil EPA/DHA product is compliant with the stringent GOED voluntary monograph for environmental contaminants, oxidation and verified omega-3 levels.
